Langer Dan Becomes The First Winner By Ocovango

Only National Hunt Runner a Listed Hurdle Winner for Ocovango

Friday saw Langer Dan (Ocovango – What A Fashion, by Milan) win the Listed Wensleydale Juvenile Hurdle at Wetherby for Dan Skelton and owner Colm Donlon to remain unbeaten having previously scored at Ludlow last month (pictured). He is the only national hunt runner to date from the first three-year-old crop of Monsun’s high class son Ocovango, whose only runner on the flat is also a winner.

The first foal out of the well-named What A Fashion, Langer Dan was bred by Hugh O’Connor who also bred last Saturday’s bumper winner at Cheltenham Time Flies By from the same family. Trained by Nicky Henderson for JP McManus, that smart-looking four-year-old is by another son of Monsun in Getaway and out of What A Fashion’s dam What A Mewsment.

Ocovango stands at The Beeches Stud where he will be joined in 2020 by the world’s joint-top rated horse of 2019 Crystal Ocean.
