Only way is Up for unstoppable Galileo
An unforgettable few days for Galileo continued at the Curragh on Sunday when his daughter Up (3f Galileo-Halland Park Lass, by Spectrum) took the G3 Lanwades Stud Fillies’ Stakes only eight days after running in America.
Up was scoring a day after Galileo enjoyed six stakes winners in four different European countries and four days after his son Frankel (4c Galileo-Kind, by Danehill) confirmed himself one of the greatest all-time racehorses when winning the G1 Juddmonte International at York.
Up led home a 1-2 for Galileo when beating the David Wachman-trained Aloof (3f Galileo-Airwave, by Air Express) to land the 10-furlong contest. In third place was Ballybacka Lady (4f Hurricane Run-Southern Queen, by Anabaa).
Up had finished sixth in the G1 Beverly D Stakes at Arlington last weekend and O’Brien said: “She was in the US last week and got back on Monday. She is a hardy filly and got the trip well today. She has always promised to be nice but things just didn't work out for her. She'll run again in another fillies’ Group race, maybe the G1 Matron Stakes.”
