Progressive Calyx Colt Completes Impressive Hat-Trick
Habrdi (2c Calyx - Second Glance, by Galileo) appeared to relish Thursday’s step up in trip at Chelmsford, where he completed an impressive hat-trick of wins for Jane Chapple-Hyam.
The Ahmad Alotaibi-owned colt won his second start for the yard in October and went on to score by four lengths last time out over seven furlongs. Sent off favourite to follow up over a mile, the bay raced prominently under David Egan and was switched left to challenge approaching the final furlong. Ridden to lead inside the final furlong, he drew clear to win by three and a half lengths.
Habrdi was bred by Rabbah Bloodstock out of a Galileo mare- the same cross as Calyx’s Group 2 winner Persian Dream and Group 1 performer Eben Shaddad. Calyx’s first crop includes another two Group/Graded winners, as well as Group 2 runner-up Malc.
