Sindhia (Mastercraftsman) Wins The Summer Fillies Handicap At The Curragh

Progressive Filly Completes Saturday Double For Mastercraftsman

Sindhia (4f Mastercraftsman - Sinaniya, by More Than Ready) completed a smart Saturday double for Mastercraftsman when landing the valuable Summer Fillies Handicap at the Curragh on Derby Day.

Racing over seven furlongs, the Michael Halford-trained bay was positioned in midfield by Ronan Whelan and made heady after passing the two furlong marker. Ridden inside the final furlong, she ran on well to win by half a length.

Speaking after the race, Halford said, “Sindhia is a smashing filly and I felt that the best was still to come from her.”

The Aga Khan homebred’s win quickly followed a Class 2 success by the highly-rated Vintager (6g Mastercraftsman - White And Red, by Orpen) at Windsor.

Trained by Simon and Ed Crisford for Rabbah Racing, the dual Group winner chased the leaders under Mark Crehan and was switched left to challenge approaching the final furlong. Running on well, he beat the favourite by a length on the line.

Bred by Thurso Bloodstock, the son of Mastercraftsman is the sole Stakes performer out of his dam White And Red.
