Progressive Son Of Mahler Records Back To Back Wins

Monday saw the Chris Gordon-trained Annual Invictus (5g Mahler - Shantou Rose, by Shantou) continue his progression over hurdles, as he justified favoritism in the Novices’ Hurdle at Plumpton.

The winner of a four-year-old maiden for Cormac Doyle, the son of Mahler finished second over hurdles on his seasonal return and was last seen winning a novice hurdle at Lingfield. Tom Cannon rode the bay in a prominent position, leading from four out and went clear from the third last, scoring by 13 lengths with ease.

The progressive five-year-old is owned by Thomas Michael Smith and was bred by Mrs Deborah Hobson.
