Promising Son Of Arizona Lands Naas Maiden
William F Browne (2g Arizona – Becuille, by Redback) became the latest first crop winner by Arizona when winning his maiden at Naas on Thursday.
Runner-up last time out, Ger Lyons’ representative was sent off favourite for the mile contest and raced prominently throughout under Colin Keane. Ridden approaching the final furlong, he ran on well to lead by a neck on the line, with another half a length back to Wonderfulwonderful (Arizona) in third. The first three home finished over seven lengths clear of the rest of the field.
Lyons later described William F Browne as “a lovely horse.” Bred by MCR Bloodstock, the first crop son of Arizona is owned by Mrs Lynne Lyons and Sean Jones.
