Chuvelo (Milan) winning a bumper at Carlisle

Promising Son Of Milan Goes One Better In Bumper

Sunday saw the well-bred Chuvelo (4g Milan - Bargante, by Phardante) make a winning start for new connections in the bumper at Carlisle.

A full-brother to talented chaser Double Seven (Milan), he was bought by Donald McCain for £100,000 following a promising debut second in a Fairyhouse bumper for Sam Curling. Now racing over two miles and one furlong, he was sent off favourite under Brian Hughes and tracked the leaders for much of the way. Leading from three furlongs out, he kept on well to score by four lengths.

Owned by TG Leslie and bred by M Doran, Chuvelo continued a fine weekend for Grange Stud sire Milan, following a Four-Year-Old Maiden win by Premiumaccess (4g Milan - De Loose Mongoose, by Phardante) at Kinsale on Saturday.

The Colin Bowe-trained bay had been placed on both his previous starts and gained his maiden victory by a neck, with another five lengths back to the third horse. A €50,000 store buy, Premiumaccess was bred by John McDowell.
