Vanguard Star (Starspangledbanner) Wins His Maiden At Dundalk

Promising Son Of Starspangledbanner Delivers On Return

Vanguard Star (3g Starspangledbanner - Mimiteh, by Maria’s Mon) built on previous promise to make a winning three-year-old return in Friday’s six furlong maiden at Dundalk.

The Joseph O’Brien-trained chesnut finished third on his last two juvenile starts, including in a Curragh maiden, and was sent off favourite to deliver on his first run since October. Making all under Shane Crosse, he was pushed along from two furlongs out and ridden approaching the final furlong. Running on strongly, he drew clear and led by three and a half lengths on the line.

Owned by the Thoroughbred Racing Syndicate, Vanguard Star was sold by breeder Old Carhue Stud as a yearling for €135,000.
