Prove Right Registers Second Victory at Laurel
Prove Right (2c Justify x Joe’sgoldengoliday, by Harlan’s Holiday) was the second winner of the day for Justify on Sunday with an Allowance Optional Claiming win at Laurel.
The experienced juvenile was happy to let the pacesetter go multiple lengths in front of him as he sat in second in the 5 ½ furlong dirt race. He started his move to close the gap in the stretch and in the final furlong was engaged in a battle for the victory.
The longtime pacesetter bowed out late with Prove Right pulling away for a one length victory in the end.
Prove Right is trained and co-owned by James Chapman alongside Stuart Tsujimoto and now has earnings of nearly $150,000 with a third-place finish in the Grade III Nashua Stakes on his resume two starts ago.
Bred by Three Chimneys Farm, Prove Right is out of a three-quarter sister to three-time Grade I winner Goldencents. The pair are out of Golden Works, who has three winners from three to race – including this colt’s dam.
It’s been another big few weeks for leading freshman sire Justify with six winners in the last 15 days.
