Racatan Newest Grade I Winner for Lookin At Lucky

Lookin At Lucky followed Practical Joke’s lead on Sunday when the stallion sired Group I Classico Nacional Ricardo Lyon winner Racatan (3c Lookin At Lucky x Magia Para Todos, by Rock of Gibraltar).

Trained by Oscar Silva for the 1 ¼ mile turf race, Racatan raced to the outside of the field in fourth early on before following the leader as that one pulled a few lengths ahead of the field. The colt was placed on that one’s tail around the turn and quickly confronted him as they straightened in the stretch.

The leader fought on as Racatan made his charge but shortly after gave in with Racatan pulling away to win by 4 ½ lengths in the end.

Bred by Haras Don Alberto and racing for Vaquita Sabrosa, it’s the first Group I victory for Racatan. That colt has won three of his six starts and finished no worse than third with a win in the Group III Cotejo de Potrillos and a third in the Group I Clasico Alberto Vial Infante as well.

He is the first foal out of Rock of Gibraltar’s Group III winner Magia Para Todos, who herself is one of four winners from four to race out of her own dam.

Racatan is the 18th Grade I winner for Lookin At Lucky, who is also the sire of 71 stakes winners and 46 graded stakes winners. He’s also the second graded stakes winner in a week for his sire after Lucky Score won the Grade III Vigil Stakes to end September.
