Richi Gives Practical Joke Another Juvenile Stakes Winner
Richi (2c Practical Joke x Rich Baby, by Scat Daddy) became her sire’s newest stakes winner on Saturday with a seven length victory in the Clasico Alberto Vial Letelier.
Racing seven furlongs on the dirt, the filly broke strongly to take an early lead with another horse trying to pour on pressure early on. That horse couldn’t keep up with the leader and quickly left Richi alone as her jockey rode her confidently around the track.
While the other jockeys were asking their mounts for all they had coming into the stretch, hers barely moved with Richi romping to her seven length victory in her third start.
Now the winner of two wins in three outings, Richi is trained by Juan Silva for Vendaval and was bred by Paso Nevado Stud Farm.
The filly is out of Scat Daddy’s multiple Group II placed Rich Baby, a full sister to Group I placed Rich Lady and half-sister to multiple Grade II winner and Grade I-placed Rich Court and Lookin At Lucky’s stakes placed Richman.
This was one of two stakes winners on two continents for Practical Joke, whose Skelly won the Grade III Count Fleet Sprint at Oaklawn.
