Diyani Becomes The Latest Winner By Rock Of Gubraltar

Rock Of Gibraltar Colt Goes One Better At Longchamp

The Mikael Delzangles-trained Diyani (3c Rock Of Gibraltar - Dilafara, by Singspiel) built on a promising debut to win the Prix du Musee Carnalet over a mile at Longchamp on Thursday.

Beaten just a head over the same distance last month, he was held up in a field of seven by Christophe Soumillon and fanned out wide upon entering the straight. Quickening well two furlongs from home, he rallied gutsily in the final furlong and ran on to beat the favourite Bleu Marine by a length and a quarter.

Owned and bred by the Aga Khan, Diyani is a grandson of Group 2 Prix de Malleret winner and Prix Vermeille second Diamilina, also known as the grand-dam of Irish Derby hero Capri (Galileo).
