Three-time Flat winner Scarpeta (5g Soldier Of Fortune-Sanada, by Priolo) looked an exciting hurdling recruit when scoring by 17 lengths at Gowran Park on Thursday. Now trained by Willie Mullins for Thurloe Thoroughbreds, the Soldier Of Fortune gelding always raced prominently as he pushed his 19 rivals aside with ease. Winning rider Paul Townend commented: “He has a bit to learn yet about jumping, he's novicey. He improved from the first day and I think he can improve again.”
