Silver Lining (Caravaggio) Winning At Clairefontaine

Silver Lining 13th Winner for Caravaggio

It was yet another winner for Caravaggio on Sunday when Silver Lining (2f Caravaggio x Full of Beauty, by Motivator) won at Clairefontaine in France.

A close second over 6 ½ furlongs on debut, the stretch out to a mile suited the gray filly as she relished the added distance.

Having only one beat for much of the race, Silver Lining slipped through a hole as the field swept to the stand’s side rail after entering the stretch and was immediately among the leaders. It was a stampede to the line but the others started to fall back in the closing stage.

When Silver Lining crossed the line for Ecurie Phillippe Segalot and trainer Jean-Claude Rouget, she had her neck in front in the five horse charge with Churchill’s La Gloire in second.

Bred by Ecurie Haras du Cadran, Lerner, and SAS I.E.I, Silver Lining is out of Group 2-placed Full of Beauty, who is also the dam of Group 2 winner Wally. Full Of Beauty is a half-sister to stakes winner Grey Britain with stakes winners under each of Silver Lining’s first four dams.

Now the sire of 13 winners, Caravaggio has a strong lead in the freshman sire ranks by winners, stakes winners, stakes horses and graded stakes winners. The stallion has also had two other runners finish close fourths in Group III races.
