Passion (Galileo) Wins The Gr.3 Stanerra Stakes at Naas

Sister To Capri Captures Stanerra Stakes

The Aidan O’Brien-trained Passion (3f Galileo - Dialafara, by Anabaa) gained a deserved Stakes success when taking Sunday’s Group 3 Stanerra Stakes at Naas.

Third in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes, Group 1 Irish Oaks and Group 3 Give Thanks Stakes earlier this season, the daughter of Galileo stepped up to a mile and six furlongs on her latest start. Seamie Heffernan rode her to lead, tracking to the near side in the straight and was travelling well with two furlongs left to race. Ridden soon after, she kept on well to score by a length and three quarters.

Owned by Mrs John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith, Passion was bred by Lynch Bages and Camas Park Stud, with the latter selling her as a yearling for 800,000gns. She becomes a fourth Group scorer out of Dialafara, whose best produce is Irish Derby and St Leger victor Capri, who joined the Grange Stud ranks in 2020.

A full-sister to Passion is catalogued to sell at the Tattersalls Book 1 Yearling Sale later this year.
