Smart Son Of Arizona Strikes On Debut

Perfect Pacemaker (2g Arizona – Busy Bimbo, by Red Clubs) shaped like a smart prospect when making a winning debut in Friday’s five furlong maiden at Dundalk.

Settled towards the back of the field by Billy Lee, Danny Murphy’s newcomer was last off the bridle after turning for home, but faced a wall of horses a furlong out. He ran on strongly to lead close home, going on to beat Smiling (No Nay Never) by a length and a quarter.

The winning trainer commented: “He was working well but he's a big raw horse. He always was a nice horse but he's so big and lanky.”

Bred by Dermot Day, Perfect Pacemaker is owned by Mrs Rose Day and Karl Kirwan. He hails from the first crop of Arizona, which is currently led by Listed winner Right And True, who holds an Irish 2,000 Guineas entry.
