Society keeps on Rocking with G2 win
Rock Of Gibraltar’s fabulous son Society Rock (6h Rock Of Gibraltar-High Society, by Key Of Luck) looked to be better than ever when making an impressive winning comeback in the G2 Duke Of York Stakes at York on Wednesday.
The six-year-old overcame an unfavourable draw when partnered by Kieren Fallon to get up on the line in the six-furlong contest and James Fanshawe’s charge will now bid to land the G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, a race he also captured in 2011.
Fallon said: “Things went wrong for me as I couldn't get too much cover and had to ease off him to get some. I was drawn 18 in and got there too soon because I couldn't get cover.
“I didn't know if I had won. The other horse (Lethal Force) was bearing down on me and you never know.”
Fanshawe added: “He's done a lot of work at home and is going to be an exciting horse this season. He likes Ascot and the Diamond Jubilee there will be his next race.”
Dual G1 winner Society Rock, who was bred by San Gabriel Investments, has now won in each of the last four seasons.
