Soldier Of Fortune Filly Proves Class Apart On Debut
The Willie Mullins-trained Belle Metal (4f Soldier Of Fortune - Elphis Supreme, by Westerner) emerged as an exciting prospect when running out a 12 length winner on debut at Naas.
One of just two fillies to line up for Wednesday’s two mile bumper, the daughter of Soldier Of Fortune was sent off favourite under Jody Townend, who rode her to make all. Two lengths in front with five furlongs left to race, she quickened approaching the final furlong and soon drew clear.
Mullins later confirmed that a step up in class is on the cards for Belle Metal, who runs in the colours of the Leinster Partnership. Bred by John Connolly, she hails from the first Irish crop of Beeches Stud resident Soldier Of Fortune.
