Hey Day Baby (Soldier Of Fortune) Wins The 4YO Mares Maiden At Turtulla

Soldier Of Fortune Mares Provide Timely Updates

Hey Day Baby (4m Soldier Of Fortune - Midnight Choir) was not for catching in Sunday’s four-year-old mares’ maiden at Turtulla, where she made every post a winning one under Eoin Mahon.

Trained by Paurick O’Connor for John Duggan, she held a two length advantage at the second last and kept on well on the run-in to score by a length and three quarters. The front pair finished eight lengths clear of the field.

Bred by Benjamin Daunt, Hey Day Baby provides an important update for her half-brother by Mahler, which is catalogued in the Goffs December NH Sale.

The same can be said for Bents Hollow (5m Soldier Of Fortune - Blume, by Flemensfirth), whose impressive hurdle debut is well-timed ahead of her full-brother selling at the same sale.

Last seen winning by five lengths for Colin Bowe, the daughter of Soldier Of Fortune was sent off a short-priced favourite for the Mares’ Novices Hurdle at Musselburgh on Monday. Donald McCain’s representative made all under Brian Hughes and was shaken up to go clear approaching the second last. Keeping on well, she won by 11 lengths with ease.

Bred by Sydney Bennett, Bents Hollow now carries the colours of J Fyffe.
