Son Of Churchill Takes Group 3 Contest In Good Style
Saturday saw Trustyourinstinct (3c Churchill – Gussy Goose, by Danehill Dancer) gain a deserved blacktype success in the Group 3 Tonybet Stakes at Leopardstown.
Joseph O’Brien’s charge was sent off favourite for the mile and a half contest, having finished a close second in Group 3’s over ten furlongs on his last two starts. Racing prominently under Dylan Browne McMongale, the son of Churchill was asked to quicken from two furlongs out and ridden to lead a furlong later. Soon in command, he kept on to score by a length and three quarters.
Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “We weren't sure about the mile-and-a-half trip as his best runs had been at ten but Trustyourinstinct really got the trip well. He qualifies for a lot of big pots around the world as we get into the autumn so he could potentially end up in a race internationally.”
The progressive son of Churchill was bred by Mrs Noreen McManus and is owned by JP McManus.
