Son Of Footstepsinthesand Lands Another Valuable Prize

Lucander (6g Footstepsinthesand - Lady Sefton, by Oratorio) concluded a profitable stint in Bahrain with a Grade 2 win in the valuable HH Sheikh Nasser Bin Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Cup.

George Baker’s representative ran out an impressive winner of the Al Muharraq Cup on his first start in Bahrain and stepped up to a mile and three furlongs on Friday. Held up by Andrea Atzeni, the son of Footstepsinthesand was travelling well but had nowhere to go approaching the two furlong pole. Ridden when a gap appeared, he quickened to lead inside the final furlong and ran on well to score by two lengths and three quarters.

Friday’s success marked a seventh career win for Lucander, whose earnings now stand at over £220,000. Owned by Nigel Jones and Paul Bowden, the son of Footstepsinthesand was bred by John Connolly.
