Son Of Getaway Makes Winning Hurdle Debut

Some Spin (5g Getaway - Princess Knapping, by Oscar) made his first start over a hurdles a winning one, when scoring at Limerick on Thursday.

Making his hurdle debut in the two mile maiden hurdle, the James King-trained gelding chased the leaders for much of the way under Pa King. Improving to lead approaching the third last, he extended his advantage to eight lengths at the second last and was ridden out on the run-in to hold off Good Reception by two and a quarter lengths on the line.

Speaking after the race, Pa King said, “He jumped and travelled everywhere and was the best horse in the race.”

Owned by Mrs Josephine King and bred by Liam O’Regan, Some Spin is the first foal out of Princess Knapping (Oscar), herself an unraced half-sister to useful hurdler Baily Rock.
