Son Of Getaway Wins First Start Under Rules

Ultimate Getaway (6g Getaway - Ultimate Echo, by Gamut) made a winning start for the Fergal O’Brien stable when taking Wednesday’s bumper at Southwell.

Previously placed in two point-to-points, the bay was sent off favourite for his first start under rules. Paddy Brennan rode him towards the back of the field for much of the two mile contest and began to make headway from four furlongs out. Ridden a furlong later, he led inside the final furlong and kept on well to win by a length and a half.

Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “Ultimate Getaway is a good looking horse and we're delighted with him. He'd schooled well over hurdles so that will be on the horizon for him.”

Owned by Foxtrot Racing and bred by William Delaney, Ultimate Getaway provides a timely update for his half-sister by Walk In The Park, who is catalogued to sell at the Goffs Land Rover Sale.
