Whispering Royal (Gustav Klimt) Makes A Winning Debut At Dundalk

Son Of Gustav Klimt Delivers On Debut

Whispering Royal (2g Gustav Klimt - Wild Academy, by Royal Academy) justified strong market support to make a winning debut in Friday’s mile maiden at Dundalk.

The Barry Fitzgerald-trained newcomer raced towards the back of the field under Luke McAteer and began to make headway from three furlongs out. Pushed along when racing wide on the turn for home, he showed signs of inexperience when ridden two furlongs out, but ran on well to lead close home and scored by a neck.

“He's a very straightforward horse at home,” the winning trainer said after the race. “He's a beautiful horse and he really points his toe well on that surface. I'd say there is improvement to come.”

Owned by Mrs C Taylor, Whispering Royal was bred by R Cody and hails from the first crop of Gustav Klimt. The speedy son of Galileo is also responsible for Stakes performer Sopran Blakey.
