Son Of Mastercraftsman Gains Overdue Maiden Success

Friday saw the David Barron-trained Baryshnikov (4g Mastercraftsman - Tara Moon, by Pivotal) gain a deserved maiden win when scoring by two lengths at Chester.

Placed on five occasions this season, the chesnut was sent off favourite for the ten and a half furlong contest and chased the leaders under Robbie Downey. Making headway from two furlongs out, he was ridden approaching the final furlong and soon led, keeping on well to the line.

Owned by John Knotts and partner, the 120,000gns yearling purchase was bred by MH and Mrs G Tourle and is a half-brother to multiple Stakes winner Lady Gloria.
