Monbeg Notorious (Milan) Wins Racing TV Chase at Down Royal

Son Of Milan Bounces Back To Land Feature Chase

Tuesday saw Grade 1 performer Monbeg Notorious (9g Milan – Borleagh Princess, by Presenting) return to winning ways in the Racing TV Chase at Down Royal.

Racing on his preferred heavy ground, the Gordon Elliott-trained bay raced prominently throughout under Denis O’Regan and was ridden approaching the third last. Staying on well under pressure, he won by two and a half lengths from stablemate and favourite Jury Duty.

It marked a fourth straight win in the feature for Gordon Elliott, who later said, “He jumped great and Denis (O'Regan) gave him a good ride and dictated from the front. He was coming back to a bit of life at home.”

Monbeg Notorious’s previous wins for Gigginstown House Stud include the Thyestes Chase and the Grade 2 Ten Up Novice Chase. The son of Milan was bought by Gordon Elliott for £155,000 after winning his point-to-point for Donnchadh Doyle. Bred by Malachy McDaniel-Stone, he comes from the family of talented chasers Dines and GVA Ireland.
