Son Of Milan Shapes Into Exciting Staying Chaser

Marown (7g Milan - Rosie Suspect, by Presenting) looks set to contest some of the top staying chases after running out a wide margin winner of the three mile Novices’ Chase at Wetherby on Tuesday.

Having gained his first chase success over two and a half miles, the Nicky Richards-trained bay finished second in a Grade 2 over the same trip in January, but faced Grade 2 winner Messire Des Obeaux on his step up in trip. He raced prominently throughout under Brian Hughes and was shaken up from four out, improving to lead at the second last. Racing clear on the run-in, he won by all of 38 lengths.

Owned by Trevor Hemmings, Marown has always proven talented, having won his first three starts in a bumper and over hurdles. The son of Milan was bred by John Donovan and sold for €80,000 as a three-year-old to Highflyer Bloodstock.
