Shallow River (Ocovango) Makes A Winning Hurdle Debut at Huntingdon

Son Of Ocovango Follows Up On Hurdle Debut

Shallow River (6g Ocovango - Nicola’s Girl, by High Roller) maintained an upward curve on Friday when making all on his hurdle debut at Huntingdon.

Last seen winning a bumper at Wincanton, the Fergal O’Brien-trained gelding was sent off favourite for the two mile Novices’ Hurdle under Paddy Brennan. Pushed along from two out, he kept on well on the run-in to score by three and half lengths from promising four-year-old Big Boy Bobby (Vadamos). The pair finished 25 lengths clear of the field.

Now owned by the Mick Fitzgerald Racing Club, Shallow River was purchased after finishing third on debut for Margaret Mullins. The son of Beeches Stud sire Ocovango was bred by Eric Barrett.
