Serious Charges (Soldier Of Fortune) Makes All In The Maiden Hurdle At Exeter

Son Of Soldier Of Fortune Not For Catching

Serious Charges (5g Soldier Of Fortune - South West Nine, by Oscar) backed up some strong form by justifying short-priced favouritism in Tuesday’s maiden hurdle at Exeter.

The Soldier Of Fortune gelding claimed runners-up honours on his sole start for Sean Doyle, with the winner Cool Survivor (Westerner) having since sold for £175,000. Second once again on his first start for Anthony Honeyball, he was reunited with Rex Dingle on hurdle debut and made all of the running. Shaken up three from home, he was ridden approaching the final flight and kept on well to beat Scarface (Milan) by three lengths and three quarters, the pair drawing nine lengths clear of the field.

Bred by Mrs LA Nesbitt, Serious Charges is a half-brother to four-time winner Outrageous Romana (Mahler).
