Uncle Phil (Walk In The Park) Wins The Maiden Hurdle At Killarney

Son Of Walk In The Park Scores On Hurdle Debut

Bumper winner Uncle Phil (5g Walk In The Park - Synthe Davis, by Saint Des Saints) made a perfect start to his hurdling career in Saturday’s maiden hurdle at Killarney.

Runner-up on debut, Willie Mullins’ charge won by all of 14 lengths next time out and was sent off favourite to make a winning hurdle debut. The bay raced prominently throughout under Bryan Cooper and was pushed along from the second last. Ridden out on the run-in, he held off late challenger Hashtag Pretender by half a length on the line.

“Uncle Phil 's jumping was very good,” Cooper said after the race. “I was confident coming here. There'll be plenty of fun to be had with him.”

Owned by Mrs Donnelly, the son of Walk In The Park was bred by Kieran Cotter.
