Ebony Jewel (Westerner) Wins Impressively At Ayr

Son Of Westerner Delivers On Promising Debut

Ebony Jewel (5g Westerner - Lady Roania, by Saddlers’ Hall) built on a promising debut to run out an impressive winner of Saturday’s bumper at Ayr.

The bay finished second at Haydock in December and was subsequently sold for £70,000 to Tom Malone on behalf of current owner Lynne Maclennan and trainer Nick Alexander. Sent off favourite under Lucy Alexander, he made all the running and went clear over two furlongs out, staying on strongly to score by 12 lengths.

Previously sold as a store for €30,000, Ebony Jewel was bred by Karen McLoughney out of a winning half-sister to the useful Some Article.
