Cappucino (Westerner) Wins The Maiden Hurdle At Punchestown

Son Of Westerner Follows Up In Punchestown Maiden Hurdle

Cappucino (5g Westerner – Alliss, by Getaway) followed up last month’s bumper win with a smart performance in Wednesday’s maiden hurdle at Punchestown.

Liz Doyle’s charge made all at Listowel last time out and Sean Flanagan employed the same tactics on his latest start. Pushed along approaching the final flight, he drew clear on the run-in and went on to win by four and a quarter lengths.

Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “He's progressing and settling but whether we'll get to continue to make the running with him, I don't know. He jumps very well.”

Owned by the Cappucino Partnership, the son of Westerner was bred by Michael Gaynor.
