Son Of Westerner Proves Popular At Tattersalls Ireland
A son of Westerner proved to be one of the highlights of the Tattersalls Ireland August NH Sale, when selling to Tom Malone for €72,000 during the sale’s opening session on Tuesday.
The three-year-old returned a fine profit on his foal price of €14,000, paid by White Horse Stud’s Michael Cullen to breeder Con O’Keeffe’s Kilbarry Lodge Stud. The bay received a black-type update when breeder Con O’Keeffe trained his half-sister Kilbarry Way (Getaway) to finish second in a Listed hurdle at Killarney.
Tom Malone later revealed that his purchase will go into training with Paul Nicholls, adding, “He's by a good, proven sire and his pedigree was a big attraction. He missed the Derby Sale due to a minor setback. We were very keen to have him and are delighted to get him.”
