Son Of Zoffany Lands Valuable Meydan Prize

The talented Simsir (4g Zoffany – Simawa, by Anabaa) rewarded connections with a valuable prize when scoring over ten furlongs at Meydan on Thursday evening.

Having won his first two starts last September, the Aga Khan Studs homebred finished second on his next two starts, including when going close in the Listed Zabeel Turf over course and distance. Ronan Whelan rode the bay in mid-division and began to make smooth headway from two furlongs out, running on well to lead close home. The winning margin was half a length, with a further three lengths back to the favourite American Graffiti in third.

Simsir is one of four black-type performers out of the Listed-placed mare Simawa, herself a half-sister to the top-class Sinndar. Being by Zoffany and out of an Anabaa mare, Simsir is bred on a similar cross to Group 1 performers Illuminate (Zoffany), Washington DC (Zoffany) and Foundation (Zoffany).
