Starspangledwaves (Starspangledbanner) Impresses At Dundalk

Starspangledbanner Juvenile Eases Clear In Style

Starspangledwaves (2g Starspangledbanner - Little Sweetheart, by Lawman) shaped like a smart prospect when running out an impressive winner of Friday’s five furlong maiden at Dundalk.

A promising fifth on debut at the Curragh, the son of Starspangledbanner was ridden to make all by Conor Hoban and was the last off the bridle turning for home. Keeping on well, he began to draw clear approaching the final furlong and led by three and a quarter lengths on the line.

Trainer Pat Flynn was full of praise for the winner and said, “We knew from the word go that he was a very nice horse. Conor said in the Curragh that he was just pure, raw ability. He's a fantastic horse and as good a two-year-old as I've ever had.”

Owned by Mrs Patrick Flynn and bred by the Lykke Til Group, Starspangledwaves completed the first leg of a smart double on the card for Starspangledbanner.

The progressive Rough Diamond (Starspangledbanner) later justified a career-high rating when striding three and a quarter lengths clear for Edward Lynam, who also bred the bay with owner Trevor Dalzell.
