Talented Son Of Milan Lands £100,000 Prize

Brewin’upastorm (9g Milan - Daraheen Diamond, by Husyan) overcame talented opposition to land Sunday's valuable feature at Lingfield.

Olly Murphy’s charge shared favouritism for the £100,000 hurdle with Grade 1 performer Darver Star, with Grade 2 victor Goshen another accomplished opponent. Tracking the leaders under Aidan Coleman, Brewin’upastorm was asked to quicken approaching the second last and was ridden before the final flight. Running on well, he led from 110 yards out and kept on to win by a length and a quarter.

“I'm over the moon,” a delighted Murphy said after the race. “Brewin’upastorm is a good horse and has done me proud,” On future targets, he added, “I'd imagine we'll freshen him up and go straight to Aintree.”

The son of Milan is now an eight-time winner for Mrs Barbara Hester, including at Grade 2 level, and gained Grade 1 placing in the Mersey Novices’ Hurdle. The Longrove Stud-bred bay also won a point-to-point for Tim Hyde at Quakerstown, which saw him sell for £250,000.
