Teetotaler Romps In Aqueduct Maiden

Teetotaler (3f Uncle Mo x Artemis Agrotera, by Roman Ruler) became the latest promising horse for her sire on Saturday with a dazzling Maiden Special Weight victory at Aqueduct.

Making her third start, the Chad Brown trainee went off as the favorite in the one mile race and quickly showed why. Keeping pressure on the leader throughout the early stages of the race, she made her move around the turn. Manny Franco looked in complete control of his mount as he gave her a few taps to get the filly to pull away from the field in the stretch.

Teetotaler was the easiest of winners from there, galloping home 6 ¾ lengths in front for owner Peter Brant.

A $500,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga purchase by Brant from Sequel New York, the Chester and Mary Broman-bred is out of two-time Grade I winner Artemis Agrotera, who is also the dam of stakes winner Chestertown.

A leading sire year after year, Uncle Mo’s 70 stakes winners include eight Grade I winners including Grade I Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist.
