Ten Sovereigns Colt Adds Group 3 To Listed Win
A trip to the Breeders’ Cup will be considered for Inquisitively (2c Ten Sovereigns - Ballyalla, by Mind Games) after recording back-to-back black-type wins in the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes.
The son of Ten Sovereigns was last seen winning the Listed Julia Rose Stakes on his first start for Kevin Philippart De Foy and Wee Sean Gan, having been purchased privately following his Windsor Castle Stakes third for Ollie Sangster. Reunited with William Buick at Newmarket, the bay made all of the running and began to quicken approaching the two furlong marker. Ridden a furlong from home, he kept on strongly to win by a length and a half.
“Inquisitively is a very tough horse,” Kevin Philippart de Foy said of his first Group winner. “He took the lead and grabbed the race from the get go. When William asked him to quicken up he put it to bed very nicely.”
When quizzed on future plans, the trainer explained that Inquisitively had originally been purchased to race in Hong Kong, but after working well, was granted his chance at York. “We decided to go for one more today,” he continued. “I would love to keep him, but we will have to speak to the owner. You have a question mark on the Breeders' Cup obviously. It is a long way out and we will have to discuss. It is not out of the question.”
Bred by Glebe Farm Stud, Inquisitively continues an exciting start at stud by Ten Sovereigns. The freshman sire is responsible for nine black-type performers to date, including Listed winners Mysterious Shadow and Asean, as well as three Group-placed horses.
