Ten Sovereigns Filly Makes Smart Debut At Gowran
Nancy J (2f Ten Sovereigns – Anne Of Kiev, by Oasis Dream) shaped like a smart prospect when making a winning debut in Wednesday’s seven furlong maiden at Gowran Park.
Shane Foley rode the Jessica Harrington-trained newcomer in touch with the leaders and improved into second approaching the two furlong marker. Pushed along to lead before the final furlong, she showed signs of inexperience before running on to deny the favourite by a neck. Fellow newcomer Think About It (Ten Sovereigns) showed promise in third.
The winning rider later said, “Nancy J has always been very professional at home and she seems to do her work easy. She picked up like she was going to go away and won well, but she had a good look and was quite green. She should improve loads and she's a nice prospect.”
Nancy J received a €50,000 bonus as a graduate of the Goffs Orby Sale and holds an entry in the Goffs Million, won by One Look last year. The second crop daughter of Ten Sovereigns is owned by Imad Alsagar and was bred by Lynn Lodge Stud.
