Third Group Race Success For Gleneagles Mare
Insinuendo (6m Gleneagles - Obama Rule, by Danehill Dancer) made a smart seasonal return at the Curragh to record her third black-type success in the Group 3 Park Express Stakes.
Runner-up to Mother Earth (Zoffany) in last year’s running, the Willie McCreery-trained mare was sent off favourite on Saturday and raced in midfield under Billy Lee. The bay made smooth headway approaching the two furlong marker and was pushed along to lead a furlong later. Ridden soon after, she kept on well to score by a length and a half.
“We're delighted to win that,” Willie McCreery said after the race. “Michael Deegan (owner) was brave enough to hold on to her for another year, so it's great to get started.”
On future plans, the trainer commented, “She's been Group 1 placed and we'll aim for all the Group 1s for the year and that will be it. The Tattersalls Gold Cup is a possibility.”
McCreery bought Insuendo as a yearling for €110,000 and she is now owned by the Deegan Racing Syndicate. The daughter of Gleneagles was bred by Mountarmstrong Stud out of Group 3 heroine Obama Rule (Danehill Dancer).
