Together Forever another G1 star for Galileo
Together Forever (2f Galileo-Green Room, by Theatrical) became Galileo’s 8th individual G1 winner of 2014 when triumphing in the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket on Friday.
It was a third successive victory for the Aidan O’Brien-trained filly, who had run away with the Listed Staffordstown Stud Stakes at the Curragh just five days before this Newmarket success.
She took the Fillies’ Mile from G2 May Hill Stakes winner Agnes Stewart and is rated by bookies as a leading contender for next season’s G1 1,000 Guineas and G1 Oaks.
“She has a massive big stride and I was making use of that in the early part of the season, but it wasn’t working out,” said winning rider Joseph O’Brien. “I then tucked her in a bit when she went to Gowran for a maiden and got her to relax. She showed a turn of foot that day that I hadn’t seen before and she’s done nothing but improve since then, she’s won three in a row now.
“I think she could be one for the Classics next year. She has plenty of pace so you could start her in the Guineas and she could end up in an Oaks. She relaxes well and tries hard. She was gone in her coat a bit the last 10 days but she was in great form and doing everything right.”
Trainer Aidan O’Brien added: “She’s a little bit weak still. We probably made a bit too much use of her in her early races, but she was second to Found in a maiden which is good form. Then she won very easily at Gowran and came back and scored very well at the Curragh.
“We were going to ease this filly off after her last run but she was in such good form during the week that we decided to come here. We thought the experience and travel over would do her good for next year. She’s going to be a lovely filly next season.
“I always thought she’d stay well but I think she has pace enough to be a Guineas filly and could get an Oaks trip. Both with her and (G1 Prix Marcel Boussac heroine) Found being by Galileo, you’d imagine they shouldn’t have a problem going beyond a mile. They both travelled very well in their races and are exciting fillies.”
