Pierro X Ben's Duchess yearling sells for $1 million at the Magic Millions

Tom Magnier Buys $1million Pierro Colt

Late in the day on Friday, Pierro posted his second seven figure yearling at Magic Millions when Tom Magnier bid $1million to secure a strapping bay colt from US speed queen Ben’s Duchess (USA).

The colt was consigned by Newgate Farm, who sold the $1.9million I Am Invincible colt from Suspicieuse (FR) to Tom Magnier on Thursday.

Like his other purchases at this sale, this colt will be prepared by champion trainer Chris Waller after being broken in and educated at Coolmore.

“Again, Chris (Waller) and the whole team liked this horse a lot. Obviously, Munnings (the colt’s dam sire) needs no introduction; it’s a very good page and it was the type that got us,” Magnier said.

“Pierro is a stallion who is just going from strength to strength and he is a champion sire in the making.”

Bred by SF Bloodstock and foaled and raised at Newgate, the colt is the third foal of the very fast US Group III winner Ben’s Duchess, who is by noted speed sire Munnings.

This colt is the second million dollar yearling of the sale for Pierro, who has three more yearlings to sell tonight.
