Two-Year-Olds Continue To Deliver For Footstepsinthesand
Lucander (2g Footstepsinthesand - Lady Sefton, by Oratorio) continued his sire’s excellent run when scoring over a mile at Windsor on Sunday.
The Ralph Beckett-trained bay finished fifth on debut last month and showed the benefit of experience on his second start. Chasing the elader under Rob Hornby, he produced a challenge at the two furlong pole and was ridden to lead approaching the final furlong. Ridden out, he dug deep to hold off the favourite Berkshire Savvy by a neck on the line.
Owned by Mrs M E Slade and B Ohlsson, Lucander was bred by John Connolly and becomes the first winner out of his dam. His second dam, Saxon Maid, was a dual Listed winner, while his third dam is Group 1 Oaks third Britannia’s Rule.
