Uncle Mo Colt Sells for $1 Million at Keeneland September

A top sire year after year, it was no surprise to see buyers snapping up Uncle Mo yearlings at this year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale with a $1 million colt leading the way during Book 1.

Offered by St. George Sales, the colt purchased by Mitsu Nakauchida is out of the stakes placed Spring Eclipse. That mare has proven to be a successful broodmare as the dam of the stakes winning Bet She Wins among her three winners with the colt’s full brother a placed runner.

Spring Eclipse is one of three stakes performers for her own stakes performing dam, who produced Grade II winner Softly and Grade III winner Coragil Cat. Softly is the granddam of two stakes winners and great-granddam of one other.

This is also the family of Grade I winner Angel of Empire and Grade II winner Conquest Big E with the runners under the colt’s first two dams including 10 stakes winners and six other stakes performers.

Uncle Mo’s racing owner Repole Stable was the buyer of a $700,000 colt with West Bloodstock signing for the colt just three hips before the stallion’s $1 million yearling.

Consigned by Denali Stud as agent for WinStar Farm Bred & Raised, the colt is the first foal out of stakes winner and Grade I placed Crystal Ball. This is a packed page with the yearling’s granddam a half-sister to Grade I winner Madcap Escapade and Dubai Escapade. Madcap Escapade went on to produce Grade I winner Mi Sueno with 10 stakes winners under his stakes winning third dam Sassy Pants.

Uncle Mo saw his other yearlings sell for $675,000, $550,000, $500,000, $500,000, etc. with an average of $412,857 in the first book.
