Useful Son Of Westerner Off The Mark Over Fences
Tuesday saw useful hurdler Truckers Lodge (7g Westerner - Galeacord, by Accordion) gain his first win over fences in the Beginners’ Chase at Chepstow.
A three-time winner and Grade 2 placed over hurdles, he finished second on his chase debut in May and was sent off favourite on his latest start. Racing just under three miles, he chased the leader under Harry Cobden and asserted approaching the final fence. Driven out, he won by half a length on the line.
Trained by Paul Nicholls for Gordon and Su Hall, Truckers Lodge was purchased privately after winning a four-year-old maiden at Ballindenisk for. The son of Westerner was bred by Mrs Ann Hogan out of point-to-point winner Galeacord.
