Carrigmoorna Queen (Walk In The Park) Wins The Mares Maiden Hurdle At Listowel

Walk In The Park Mare Follows Up On Hurdle Debut

Carrigmoorna Queen (5m Walk In The Park - Carrigmoorna Holly, by Beat Hollow) made it two from two this season when making a winning hurdle debut at the Listowel Festival.

Second on her sole start last season, the Willie Mullins-trained mare drew clear in a mares’ bumper at the Galway Festival on her seasonal return. Sent off favourite for the mares’ maiden hurdle on Wednesday, she was ridden prominently by Paul Townend and despite showing signs of inexperience at times, boasted a clear advantage at the second last. Driven out on the run-in, she won by two and a half lengths from Kilbunny Pontic (Getaway), who finished eight and a half lengths clear of the field.

There should be more to come from Carrigmoorna Queen, who carries the colours of the Closutton Racing Club. The daughter of Walk In The Park was bred by Mr Michael Veale.
