Limerick Lace (Walk In The Park) Wins The Grade B Chase At Naas

Walk In The Park Mare Lands Grade B Chase

Limerick Lace (6m Walk In The Park - Sway, by Califet) followed up last month’s impressive novice chase success with a valuable win in Sunday’s Grade B Novice Handicap Chase at Naas.

An eight length winner of a Rated Novice Chase last time out, the Gavin Cromwell-trained mare was sent off favourite as she stepped back up to two and a half miles on Sunday. Tracking the leader for much of the way, she travelled strongly throughout under Aidan Kelly and was ridden to lead after the second last. Running on well on the run-in, she won by two and a half lengths from Jody Ted (Dylan Thomas), while The Little Yank (Westerner) took third.

Speaking after the race, Gavin Cromwell said, “She's a fine big mare and jumps well. It's a nice pot to win.” On the subject of targeting black-type, he added, “Somewhere along the way, and you'd imagine she's good enough for it.”

Owned by JP McManus and bred by Mrs Noreen McManus, Limerick Lace is a full-sister to black-type performer Inothewayurthinkin (Walk In The Park).
