Fascinating Rock (Fastnet Rock) winning the Listed Heritage Stakes at Leopardstown

Weld has big plans for Fastnet Rock colt

Globetrotting trainer Dermot Weld has an international campaign in mind for Fascinating Rock (4c Fastnet Rock-Miss Polaris, by Polar Falcon) following the colt’s impressive comeback run at Leopardstown on Wednesday.

The son of Fastnet Rock, a dual G3 winner last season, comfortably landed the Listed Heritage Stakes by a length and three-quarters in the colours of his breeders, Newtown Anner Stud.

“He has always been a very good horse and he’s likely to be campaigned at home in the immediate future before travelling later in the year,” said Weld. “He has matured and put on a few kilos from last year. He came back stiff and sore from the Irish Derby last year so we decided to leave off him until this season.”
