Impeached Alexander (Starspangledbanner) On Far Side Wins Her Maiden At Cork

Well Bred Starspangledbanner Filly Rallies For Maiden Win

The Jessica Harrington-trained Impeachd Alexander (2f Starspangledbanner - Pious Alexander, by Acclamation) built on an eye-catching debut to land Wednesday’s six furlong maiden at Cork.

Sent off favourite following last month’s promising run over course and distance, the bay made the running under Shane Foley and was ridden approaching the final furlong. She showed a winning attitude when battling back to win by a head, while newcomer Timiyra (Caravaggio) kept on into third.

A step up in class may now be on the cards for Charles, Noel and Paul O’Callaghan’s homebred, who is out of an own-sister to Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes heroine Anthem Alexander (Starspangledbanner).
