Westerner Gelding Produces Perfect Performance On Rules Debut
A Perfect Day (4g Westerner – Wyndham Rose, by Court Cave) eased clear to make an impressive start under rules at Wincanton on Thursday.
The Westerner gelding finished a promising second in a four-year-old maiden on his sole start for Cormac Doyle, and enjoyed a form boost when the third horse bolted up next time out, before selling for £170,000.
Ben Clarke’s recruit faced a previous winner in the novices’ hurdle over two miles and five furlongs, and raced prominently throughout under David Noonan. Leading on the turn for home, he went clear with two to jump and went on to score by 13 lengths.
The promising bay is owned by Adrian Paterson and was bred by Peter Byrne.
